John Bourdeaux, Scilly Isles
Picked this up recently with this sticker attached. I know John Bourdeaux is known for his glazes but I haven't seen many examples of his imprinted mark, and what I have seen look more like a J within a B than this does. Also the stickers are different normally round, black background and have a bird on them. Firstly, does anyone more expert than me on glazes think this is likely his style and also could anyone tell me if this is the correct stamp for him and/or possibly someone incorrectly ID it and put this sticker on?

Has a label for John Bourdeaux. Open at the top and bottom and head sized. No idea what it would have been used for.

HAND PAINTED MOULDED PORCELAIN WREN - John Bourdeaux Pottery
I've had this little bird for a long while. It's not really to my taste but have always wondered who made it because of its roughly painted body. I would say that it was originally white and has been painted by an amateur, but for the signature on the base which looks to be 'JW / E 82'? Anyone any clues? H: 4 1/4". Thanks

The modelling and glazing reminds me very much of the animal models produced by David Sharp Rye pottery

From a John Bourdeaux wren mould, but not up to his usual standard. Looks like a glaze test piece.

Thanks Naomi you're spot on. I've had a look at a few of JB's wrens and they seem to be moulded stoneware body, whereas mine is porcelain. Like you say, it could be a test piece... I wonder who 'JW' is? Thanks again
