Maker of this Large Toby Jug
Not my cup of tea, but I am selling this for Brain Tumour Research, and a maker would be helpful in the listing.
Many thanks,
Alan.

Re: Maker of this Large Toby Jug
I have come across a lot of character jugs with this strawberry glaze before. Nearly all are marked simply by the country of origin and a number. I have yet to find out the maker so Burlington is as good a guess as any. From my own experience I would suggest they got produced shortly before or after the 1st world war, it would tie in with the type of characters I have seen, so 1910-1930. I also think it is likely they were made for a large national retailer like Woolworths, companies like that often did not want who made it on the bottom to force people who wanted more back to them rather than a competitor.
Sweet thing although not very valuable I am sorry to say. More the £5 bracket than £15 or £50.

Thanks very much guys. I have listed it for under £10 as a buy it now. Given to me for fundraising, so anything is good.
Alan.
