Suleyman Saba
Presumably an early vase, unlike his more Japanese inspired pieces he makes these days.

Suleyman went to the King's School in Canterbury, where he was taught by Geoffrey Whiting. I've never seen anything like this by him, as you say, but the mark looks right.

Re: Suleyman Saba
He was apprenticed to a number of potters in his early days. I guess he experimented early on. This has more of an African look to the decoration.

Might be worth checking with him that it's his. He's an extremely nice person and I did show some of his work at the Harlequin in the past.

Re: Suleyman Saba
Nice. I think it’s an ash glaze with a spot of cobalt or copper, and missing its lid.

Re: Suleyman Saba
Funnily enough I bought a teabowl the other day which had an extraneous lid, I think off a teapot, and by a completely different potter. So you never know, one might turn up
