French plate - Sarreguemines
Transfer printed decoration
Can't read the mark on the back although I initially thought it might have been a messed up printed Sarreguemines mark

Re: French plate - Sarreguemines
Two days I've had this now and I still can't spell it correctly in a search. I am also ashamed and embarrassed, and a little mystified, to admit that I had never heard of Sarreguemines before, they do seem to have been around for a while. Any road up, this happened into my hand at the boot sale and I think it is really cool.
Anyone got any links to handy info?

Re: French plate - Sarreguemines
Well as far as I can make out it is an Egyptian revival piece from about 1885. Looks more Deco-y to me but strictly speaking it is too early for this forum. Made of stoneware or "Lithocerame" in ze Francais.
Not much info that I can find. The link kindly donated by 22 Cr.St above is a bit too general because of the huge amount of ware produced by the factory in its various guises.
There is a similar vase on ebay.fr at the moment so I've got it followed and I'll post the result when available if I don't have to become a tax exile and move abroad.
