Ceramic Pincushion 1930-1950's German perhaps?
Hi
Nice little ceramic cat with painted Foreign mark underneath. Judging by the colour fade on the pincushion ball I would think at least from the 1950's if not earlier. Any ideas chaps?

I have a couple of pieces by Zell Schmider in this black glaze and white body, but also some made in Japan. The lack of mark points to this being Japanese.

Cool I can go with that, what period would you expect it to be?

My Zells were 60s. If it's Japanese I'm not sure

Any ceramic with the word Foreign printed like that tends to be Japanese. As for its date the Japanese got heavily involved in something called WW2 and just like the English didn't make anything decorative like that in the late 30's and 40's. So when dating you have a choice 1930's and before or 1950's and after. In my opinion the fabric does not seem to have faded and degraded enough to be 80+ years old, so I think late 50/60's as NaomniM suggested.
Edit:
Just had a quick double check and if it's Japanese the window for it being earlier is smaller than I thought. Foreign was stamped on products intended for the English or American market only. If it was before 1923 then it would have been stamped Nipon. In the 50's you got the Foreign stamps like yours and in most cases a sticky label with "made in the far east" on it. Depending on the glue these labels almost always fall off. So I think the 50's/60's date is right.

German pieces were also stamped Foreign, I think after the First World War. But I also think the fabric doesn't look that old so likely to be post WW2
