Stoneware bulbous, narrow neck vase MA incised on the base.
18cms tall. MA incised on the base. Could I have some help with this please?
Saw a similar one but it had a Cornish stamp on it and no incised initials.

Might be American.

This is probably wrong, but I had a feeling Warren Mackenzie once used an incised mark like this.
Don't get your hopes up, but SP would likely know either way.

It's not the same I agree, just somehow seem to remember something with a mark like this attributed to him, but could have been a chancer on ebay for all I remember!

His wife, Alix, had an impressed MA but the - of the A didn't go over the M and it was a seal mark.

I don't know but think I understand why you've suggested it, as the vase looks professionally done but the mark doesn't look how a professional British studio potter would mark his or her work.

It's probably not hers and your probably right, but she has done some fairly plain saltglazed stoneware I believe.

I emailed Molly Attrill, she has replied this morning saying it's not one of hers.
