Help please Japanese, age & is it worth restoring? Empty Help please Japanese, age & is it worth restoring?

This vase was described to me as Chinese when I bought it although my gut instinct, no more, is that it is Japanese. The interior is white glazed and there is a dark overlay with birds and flowers on either side. It is marked in blue on the underside but is damaged and I am wondering about its age and if it is worth restoring. I like the vase very much and try to conserve wherever funds allow. kind regards

The top two characters on the right 日 本 say Japan so maybe your gut instinct is correct!
