Re: Eric Golding, Branscombe Pottery
My first thought is that it looked a bit like a capital B with the top join not completed or glaze occluded. That Would make it be very much like the mark of Paul Barron. He taught at Farnham and shared a pottery with Henry Hammond post-war.

Re: Eric Golding, Branscombe Pottery
Good morning philpot. Thank you for the feedback, I am appreciative.
I agree, the mark doesn't look complete and as a result, it could be anything!!! Hence I'm not too hopeful in getting an ID. I'll have a dig around P.Barron and see what else pops up.
I was sure (when I first picked it up) there would be the mark of D.L.Jones to the underside, it's very similar in many respects to a few of his pieces I've owned. So no doubt it's by an accomplished potter, in my opinion.
Many thanks again

Re: Eric Golding, Branscombe Pottery
My first thought was Julia Quigley, but the mark is slightly off.

Potty & Carolalev, thank you both. Good to have more to go on, at worst I will learn something new and that is always a bonus.

Re: Eric Golding, Branscombe Pottery
Branscombe seems spot on.

Re: Eric Golding, Branscombe Pottery
It's lacking the E, but the other mark looks pretty much spot on, as well as ticking a few other comparable boxes....
I nearly didn't post this bowl because I wrongly believed the mark to be too obscure for ID. I'm so glad I did.
Many thanks Pugmill for providing the final confirmation, and thanks again to everyone else that helped.
This place is priceless
