Hi All.  Found in the North-west of England has anyone any ideas about this Jug?  Signed on the base M Schmidt (I think) with what could be 89 (1989?) and another mark that I'm afraid I can't make out.  Possibly German (I'm only saying that because of the name M Schmidt and the other unidentified mark could be the name of a German/Austrian town / region - I'm guessing and could be totally wrong here).  It measures 29 cms tall with a rim diameter of 9 cms and a base diameter of 16 cms.  Any help would be much appreciated.

First word is German for Handmade. Looks like Westerwald stoneware but I couldn't say which factory.

I always assumed it was M Schmidt but records are not available for the majority of Westerwald pottery production.

I have two pieces that were bought by a couple who visited the Westerwald region in 1950 which may be a clue to the period of production

M Schmidt was possibly employed at the Keram Studio Becher but further research needed
