Re: Royal Torquay - Torquay Pottery Company, Hele Cross.
The Torquay Pottery (Co. Ltd.) opened in Hele Cross in 1908 in what had previously been the Torquay Terra-Cotta Co. Ltd pottery from 1874 until it closed around 1906. It was opened by Enoch "Nockie" Staddon (what a lovely name) and by 1915 had around 20 employees. ROYAL appeared on marks from 1924.
The pottery hit hard times in the early 1930s and was in the process of closing but Staddon formed a new company Torquay Pottery (1932) Ltd. It finally closed just after the Second World War and the premises became a laundry!

The design for your jug could have been the work of Vincent Cane, who was a modeller employed by Staddon.
