fish-handle rectangular serving dish - Max Roesler, Rodach:
Hi,
This is a covered serving dish with a fish-shaped handle. It has a shield (?) insignia on the bottom with the number 1668. If anyone has any idea what this might be, or can help me with the age, that would be most appreciated. The dish is about 7.5" long and about 4" high. Thanks so much!

I've enhanced it a bit as it was too flat. Not sure what it is though, maybe French?

Might be a double headed eagle in a shield with a crown on top

Thank you so much! Would you think it's from the 20s or 30s, then, given that they seem mainly to have stopped production after the war?

The article seems to imply that production of porcelain tableware stoopped in 1938, and after that the only porcelain made was insulators. Of course it could be quite a bit older; the pattern number could be a clue.

Thank you! I did not know it was called a sardine dish, that is very good info.
I will see if I can dig anything up with regard to the pattern number and the age.
Everyone has been so helpful!
