Looks like it... If that is the right way up? Unusual because it's not impressed, it's raised. Think the potter has placed a small disc of clay on the pot and squashed it, leaving raised initials. Also looks like maybe the pot has been wood fired?

I'm now wondering if its a JA L (?) mark due to the way the bottom of the J cuts across what I thought at first to be an N... hmm
