Ikebana Vase with Sgraffito Finish & EC mark or E mark
Hello, anyone got any ideas about this one. It is a flattened ikebana shape with a brown glaze with some bubbling (appears to be intentional) to the stem. Made of stoneware with sgraffito line decoration to the top half. Painted signature/monogram inside base - E or possibly monogram combination of C & E ? A nicely made piece found at a house clearance in Derbyshire. Can anyone help?

Nice thing, a Hans Coperish spade vase shape, and obviously well made, with that
carving. Just what Big Ed likes! How tall is it?

Yes it is in the style of Hans Coper - part of the reason I liked it. It stands just over 7" tall, by 5" wide, by about 1.75" deep. it's quite heavy and feels really well made.

Golly - didn't think it would be that popular. I must admit it is rather nice, though I haven't decided whether to keep it yet - I have got so much stuff!! Don't think it is particularly old but I did think perhaps 20-30 years, though I really don't know.
