Curious Handpainted Bird Jug - Scandinavian? Italian Deruta?
Hello - wondered if anyone had any idea about origin/maker of this curious little jug? It looks rather like a bird and has a strange little lid that forms the top of the bird's head.
It is made of earthenware and has been handpainted. It is not marked. I thought it might be Scandinavian or Eastern European, but I really don't know.
It stands almost 5" tall with the lid. Any help would be appreciated!

I've seen this shape before but can't remember if it's a traditional Italian/Florence design or Eastern European. I have a vague feeling I've seen similar ones with Deruta style decoration
