God this is going to be a tough one. The big plus for you is it looks to have real age and is not a 20th century copy for the masses.
When trying to work out age I often use the main colours used as a idea. That mint suggests an early 19th century date when it was in high fashion (think Jane Austen era). The only thing that looks off is the flowers on the dress. If they are hand painted your in luck and its early. Even though its muted colours I am not sure it is 18th but it is more than possible.
As for who made it and what factory that is a mine field. You will have more luck if it is not one of the famous names as they all got copied and you do find versions with blurry marks (as a way of suggesting origin). I think a couple of hours flicking through the online ceramic mark webpages for European ceramic factories could be worth the effort. They are available online and easy to search by country. Start with the French and German. I think you have a great chance of finding a match.
Good luck.

Mordeep thanks so much for taking the time and sharing your expertise :) I have gone through oldandsold backstamps with no luck - the flowers are handpainted. I will carry on searching! My house is becoming full of lovely things I pick up and research, cant resolve and cant bear to part with - always thinking that eventually I will come across the mark and get to know a little bit more about a piece. Probably this will go on my pending shelf.

For comparison: a late 19th century Meissen version of the same motif

Very similar to Sitzendorf porcelain but there was a lot of copying between factories.

That's very similar isn't it. The image of the woman with child is a classic one. I am sure it originates from the Mary and Jesus images that fill up churches across Europe.
The mark to me looks very different though.
Try looking here for a match. To select another country look to the right hand side. good luck

EDIT:
Just noticed you mention this site. Think you may need to search a few of the others then

Sitzendorf's version is far closer than Meissen
