Is This Old Slipware? - French
Gathered in a mad grab along with another I have already identified with a photo of an identical jug found online as French Redware c1880. This one I'm sure is the same age but I can't find, could anyone help please?
There's no mark, I'm not sure if it's French or Redware but the handle base is the same shape (with indent) as the other one.

The handle and base look very similar to one of my big jugs which was tentatively IDed as provincial Spanish pottery

French jug for comparison

'Redware' tends to be the US name for slipware that's on a red clay, and 'Yellowware' for when it's on buff clay.

I've had another look at the indent, but there's nothing there...I think it must have been a shadow but thanks for pointing it out.
Here's a better picture:
There's nothing on the base either...just functional ware.

I think the older provincial ware just had the indent at the handle to fix it on the body; no mark.

Ah yes, same tapering shape at the base of the handle also.
