Two Handled Earthenware Vase Amber Glaze & Sgraffito ??
I've been trying a while to find out what on earth this is, I just can't place it in any particular time or place. I can't work out the writing, I think it's French? I know there are sgraffito grapes on the front. There are no stamps. I'm not sure if it's old or for tourists.
Could anyone help please, is this .....what is it?

I can't imagine any producer making such a thing in the last 50 years. But I agree it looks to be a Co-Op item. So I guess a french Item locally made for people who bought wine directly from the maker and returned to have it refilled. In England we did the same thing with beer bottles in the 19th century. The Louis part could be the winery or could be the owner of the amphora. Similar English art pottery designs date from about 1870-1910 no reason to assume this is far from that period.

It was my best guess, a re-fillable wine vessel (going by the grapes) but feel much more confident now I have better informed opinions. I haven't seen one of these before, so that's helped a lot. Thank you both.
