A rather nice vase we picked up today in Clevedon about 200 metres from the pottery, that we think is possibly Clevedon / Yeo valley

Looks Continental. Swiss or Troyan possibly. Although there is a British pottery doing something similar but I can't remember the name. Alternatively, an early piece of Torquay ware

The pattern reminds me a bit of this Quimper one:

I do have a piece in this design somewhere, but can't lay my hands on it right now. Unlike yours its made of white clay and not very old.

Dont you just love light - I have had another good look over this one and can see a faint stamp saying FOREIGN and a letter either a K or an R - the search goes on!

Hi there!

Might also be from Germany. Often you can find "Foreign" on german items from the 1950s. Could you try to make a better pic of the letters you can read?

Regards
Micha

Well its not English for sure. It has that Quimper look and a kind of rustic design. I think the red clay is the clue though, there is a band that goes through Wales, Devon/Cornwall into France and then Spain. My guess southern French/Spanish then.
