Stoneware and the mark on the base could be the potter or not but I assume the GNP is the pottery. Any ideas?

Nice. Either a new potter or foreign.

Knowing where it came from I can't believe that it is less than 10 years old and most likely more. It will also have been bought in this country and probably directly from a potter/pottery, so if it isn't by a British pottery then it would have been a pottery or potter at a Ceramics Fair or Gallery in the UK.

Might be French or Scandinavian. There's a Scandinavian tent at Hatfield. My marks book only goes up to 1999

There's a British-born Australian potter called Robert Barron who uses a GNP mark (for Gooseneck Pottery).

Agreed, Gooseneck Pottery, Australia. Also worked at Wenford Bridge in the 80s

Thanks HB that seems likely. I know that Tim Boon, which ran Amalgam in Barnes and then moved down to Sherborne to run the Alpha House Gallery, had an exhibition in the gallery I use in Mayfair, which featured Janet Mansfield and other Australian potters. I suspect that's the connection................ and the glaze on this teapot of Barron's looks very similar
