Continental?? Novelty Flasks Schafer und Vater
Well these novelty whiskey and bourbon flasks have been in the family for3 generations. I think they are probably 1920s? We have never known the origin. Maybe American? European or even British?? The impressed mark is a crown with a sun. Does anyone know anymore about what they could be?

Schafer und Vater. They are known for figural liquor flasks and bottles, as well as those odd (and a bit scary) singing head ashtrays modelled as men's faces. The best website dedicated to their wares is http://www.schafer-vater.com/. Your two are there under the slim flasks category.

Wow that's great thanks. What a very interesting range of novelty wares. Some really great , others very grotesque..... I really like them. They have been around all my life and its good to know about them. Thanks

No problem. I only know because I bought a novelty flask a couple of months back and, while searching for the maker, stumbled across that website. Got a very good return on my £1 too! Really good that yours retained the lids - I reckon so many must have been lost over the years.
