It's a long way from the couple of pieces of hers that I've got, which are in tinglazed red earthenware with a painted mark, and have rather sophisticated brushwork.

Clearly the gallery knows nothing about the work they stock, as Jane Perryman's ceramics have always been burnished sawdust fired porcelain. Never heard of Jonathan Phillips.

They were looking in a catalogue of studio potters and came across Jane Perryman's mark which is almost identical to this one. Jane and Jonathan Phillips are the only two JPs that they've stocked. It's not like Jonathan's current work and I've not found an example of his mark

I believe it's an early piece by Jonathan Phillips and Sue Littlechild who are based in Herefordshire. They usually have stamped marks, but these look incised
