Re: Colin Haxby - designer
There's a bit of information in various company records online. He was born in 1922, and set up a company called Wallace and Haxby Limited in 1966 (presumably with the designer Robin Wallace), which became Haxby Ceramics in 1982. The company was based in a former school in the village of Metfield, which is in Suffolk, although the postal address is Harleston, Norfolk He remained a director of the company until 1999.
Before that he did various designs for Johnson Matthey, who weren't as far as I can tell, producers of pottery themselves, but a major supplier of glazes and coatings to the pottery industry.

Re: Colin Haxby - designer
Cheers :)
Any ideas what 'Grille' refers to? The pattern or a factory?

Hi Naomi
My husbands grandfather was Colin Haxby. He was both the potter and designer of these pieces. The name Grille refers to the individual pattern. Would be interested to know where abouts in the world these have ended up ? 😆
