Re: lidded pot - De Bruyn Fives Lille (France)
I've been staring at this for hours and my interpretation of the mark is DB superimposed on a (fouled?) anchor. Does that ring any bells with anyone?
I really should travel with my reference books!

I am rather sceptical of this attribution. While the mark shown on the site is
similar and probably the same pottery as yours, but it doesn't seem quite right for BAP.
Similarities with the early BAP mark, but no Co. Ltd, in fact no wording at all,
and no bar across the top of the anchor.
The example they show also has what looks to be a continental 7 in the number.
Goddens, and the site, state "England" was added after 1891.
Did BAP make this type of ware anyway?
My first thought was continental art pottery.

I'm confident that the two stamps (the one here and the one on the Potteries website) are variations of the same pottery.
However, I can see why you doubt they are British Anchor Pottery.
The continental "7" may be the hand of a continental potter but I'm sure there were a few of those employed in Stoke-on-Trent.
I've emailed Steve Birks; the provenence of the stamp on his site may help.

Thank you for that information, I now feel vindicated, and the potteries site is wrong
on that particular mark.
I will rename and move the thread in due course.

Excellent!!!
I'm pleased this is finally cleared up. Now all I have to do is find where I've put the pot.
Cheers
