Large simple Owl ornament - Asian Import, Homebase retailer
Hi everyone! I recently acquired this lovely owl ornament - basically a skip find! (more pics at foot of message)
He's 38cm tall, head about the size of a football. There's a bit of weight to him. There are no signatures, symbols or identifying marks that I can see.
The workmanship appears to be very good - the head and body are beautifully smooth, as is the line where they join. The glaze (of which the base colour is a kind of aqua green) appears to be of high quality.
The markings/"feathers" are subtly suggested by the mix of colours.
He's beautiful and by my reckoning quite an unusual piece. I've looked into a few possibilities via Google, such as Poole Pottery, lava ware, slipware, but cannot find anything in the first few pages of results that looks anything like this.
Has anybody seen anything like this - and can anybody put a value to him? Thanks in advance for your help!
