Anne Mette Hjortshøj

I first came across Anne Mette's work in late 2001, which was towards the end of a year she spent in Wales, working as an apprentice with Phil Rogers. She was about to go back to Denmark to set up her own pottery on the island of Bornholm, a place that has a long pottery tradition. I kept in touch and held the first British exhibition of her wood-fired work at the Harlequin Gallery back in September 2005.

I had originally exhibited and sold this at her 2005 Harlequin Gallery exhibition, which was her first exhibition outside of Denmark. Like many pots that I have sold in the past, this made its way back to me and has now moved on to a new home.
