Re: Japanese Oribe or Iga ware yunomi - Hamanaka Gesson?
Just continuing my research on these pieces. Could this yunomi be by Hamanaka Gesson? I haven't had the chance to handle his pieces before but I know he has a history of mixing styles (shigaraki, oribe hagi.) his mark also looks similar to my untrained eye.
Thanks

An example of his mark

I'd need more examples for comparison. The yunomi looks like a traditional shape and a green oribe or ash glaze, possibly Japanese iga ware

I'm not familiar with his work but the foot on pieces of his work that I have found with signed boxes look completely different and don't have an incised mark within the foot either. Compared to them this foot looks too controlled.
For me that raises serious doubts but I don't have the knowledge to know if my doubts are valid.
