Bursley ware (H. J. Wood Ltd) Burslem.
I was left this plate a few years ago. It was purchased at an antiques shop in Leura, NSW, around 40 years ago. I've done lots of Googling but come up with nothing.
I think the last 2 letters of the first line are 'ZY' the second line is 'ware' and the bottom line says 'England'. I hope somebody may be able to identify it for me.

Bursley ware England. Made in the 1920's after designs by Fredrick and Charlotte Rhead. You can find a website on the Rhead family online and all the interesting ceramic designs they were involved in.

Wow, amazing, thank you … I should have known that the 'brains trust' would have worked it out.

Bursley Ware - Rosemarie pattern. Any info?
Hi there,
I’m struggling to find any reference to this pattern given as ‘Rosemarie’ on the back of a set of demitasse cups, saucers, creamer and sugar.
I was interested to know the approx date and if it could be appropriated to a designer.
The blue is transfer print with a green hand painted wash and hand painted orange petals.
There are no other impressed marks, just what I assume is the decorators mark (possibly a B) as it is the same orange as the petals.
Any help much appreciated.
Thank you! Jen

Re: Bursley ware (H. J. Wood Ltd) Burslem.
The Rhead book gives this mark as 1929.
There are elements of Frederick Rhead in the design,
but no record in the book for Rosemarie.

Thank you, that’s very helpful re date.
I can’t understand why there’s nothing on ‘Rosemarie’ could it have been a pattern that didn’t go into full production perhaps?

Woods made lots of named tableware patterns over decades.
This is just another of their named patterns.
Probably expensive to make, with some hand painting and gilding.

Not in my Rhead book, and no pattern number to go on.
The mark is in the book though c1927.
