I'm sorry but I think I posted this in the wrong place earlier.  Is this Japanese or Chinese. How do I learn to tell the difference? This has 1950 in gold on the base of some pieces. I think it's English Staffordshire china, Late 19th early 20thC.

it would be unusual for china ware from the Far East to have a pattern number written on the base.
