66 or 99 mark
Hi all
I got a plate but unfortunately I am not able to read the mark.
It says MILTON but I think is incorrect.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Milton? Doesn't the label say Minton?

Oh, and definitely not 1797! More like mid to late 1800s. If it is Minton, not one of their finer pieces.

Re: 66 or 99 mark
If it is a Minton plate then it was sold as a blank and had a transfer added by another company later. Minton's marks back then was a series of almost Jewellers sized stamps that changed over the years, dating is pretty easy but they sold a lot of plain white items (blanks) for others to decorate. Decoration puts it in the middle to the second half of the 19th century but quality is low and availability high on these transfer items. As such it ranks pretty low on peoples wish lists these days I am sorry to say.
