Colin Pearson?????
Do not mean to be negative, but Colin Pearson's later work is associated with superb 'Winged' pots with little decoration. Sorry, but the over fussy decoration is a world away from Colin Pearson. Simply speaking. It is not his work.

It's a moulded planter. Probably made in the Far East or Italy

Yes, we've had pots that have been miss-identified by the major auction houses before. Most don't have a specialist in studio Ceramics. Best to take it to Adam Partridge for appraisal as they hold annual Contemporary Ceramics auctions

This is Colin Pearson's mark. While it shares some similarities with yours there are also differences so it is not the same. The appraiser should also have compared the style of the pot with Pearson's work and they would have seen it is not the same.

I really MUST go to Specsavers. I read "It's a moulded planter" as "It's a mouldy planter", which I thought was a bit insensitive. Then I read "Best to take it to Adam Partridge for appraisal" as "Might as well take it to Alan Partridge for appraisal", which would also be a bit rude.

Did I read that right?
Bonhams said that it was Colin Pearson?
Wonder who their studio pottery 'expert' is?

Our shock is only about Bonhams. I'm very sorry they have duped you. Yes, it has happened to us too; dealers and auction houses mis-selling items. That's why forums like this are so important. If anyone's been mislead then information for fellow collectors can be used to get people's money back.

My apologies. I did not mean any aspersions as to yourself. The comment genuinely was all about Bonhams. For near two decades in he 90's and early 2000's. they WERE the main auction house for Studio pottery. A Bonhams seal of approval on a piece was the best assurance you could possibly get. Now it seems the direct opposite is true.sweetpea wrote:Yes you read right i was given a valuation too. Im very aware i have much to learn but even you guys made errors whilst learning please be kind
