Soil Hill, Halifax, salt pig
Could it be by Isaac Button?
Hello everyone, picked up this pot in a local junk shop and was wondering if it could be by Isaac Button or from his fathers era. It is stamped Soil Hill and from what I can gather from the internet Isaac didn't use a stamp, could it be a recent copy. Many thanks Diane

Looks like the right glaze colour. I can read Soil Hill West Yorks on the stamp, but I can't read the word at the top. Presumably it was made shortly before the pottery closed?

Many thanks for your reply. Ps the word on the top is Halifax.

That would make sense. Possibly they started using a stamp to comply with export rules which meant the place of origin had to be stated on the item.
