Either it's a student piece or brought home from holiday. Possibly US studio pottery

On the other hand there is a jug and vase with this "GRM" mark on Ebay at the moment. Very proficiently thrown and decorated, and from a British seller (in Staffordshire, which may or may not be a clue).
I have found it said online (I add cautiously) that some Buxton Mill Pottery is initialled "GRM", but the style both of the mark and pottery are rather different.

Looking more carefully, the marks are a bit different, but still worth considering
Also see a "Lovely Studio Pottery Jug With Thistle Pattern. Unknown. Marked GRM" from, er, well, an ebay seller in Hampshire.
