Salopian Art pottery (Shropshire)

Salopian Art pottery, Benthall, Nr Jackfield. 1882-c1912. (Goddens 1882-c1926).

Mainly 4 types of art pottery were produced:

Enamel and Slip painted wares.
Sgraffito carved pieces.
Majolica, with modelled fruits flowers and reptiles
Coloured glaze wares. similar to Linthorpe.

A slip decorated vase.





A majolica basket.

Very underrated. I have seen some stunning and very odd grotesques by them but have not yet owned anything. They are hard to find so uncertain how much made it down south.

Salopian Art Pottery is my main area of collecting. I've published a site dedicated to this range of art pottery, with a detailed history of the factory, and galleries of images showing pots from private and public collections.
