"MAW & Co" Tile panels by H & R Johnson (Tunstall)
These tile panels were made by H & R Johnson of Tunstall Staffs.
They bought the licence/rights to use the name of the original
MAW & Co (as they did with Minton Hollins) after they had closed in 1970.

I seem to remember some domestic tiles being sold in the factory shop
under the Maw & co name, not all that long ago.
Some examples of labels to be found on the panels
The mark on the tiles themselves.

Info about Boxhill train via wiki :-
"Boxhill steam train - A Terrier tank engine, built by the LBSCR in 1880, was named Boxhill after the station. It was used to haul commuter trains in South London and Surrey until the 1920s, when it was moved to become a shunting engine at Brighton. Unlike other engines of its class, its smokebox was not modified in the early 20th century, and it was restored by the Southern Railway in 1947 to its original condition and painted in its original Stroudley yellow ochre livery. It is now preserved at the National Railway Museum in York."

...Maw & Company ... moved ... to a purpose built factory in Jackfield, Ironbridge in 1883. By this time Maw & Company had become the world’s largest producer of tiles and architectural ceramics selling more than 20 million pieces worldwide.

As far as I know these were the earliest tile panels that Johnsons produced under
the Maw & co name, before the tube-lined Majolica ones. I have some somewhere.
I'm sure there was a series of vintage cars done in a similar way.
Most of the panels were done in series of 4, and often in different colourways.
Yours is Locomotive 01.

"Scandi birds", 3 of the set of 4 in 2 colourways.
The white ones are ink stamped on the back EB1/2/3/4.
The Peacock in blue colourway, and birds on a branch.
