Not sure it is deco or even European.
It has a very Asian / Chinese depiction of Jesus and Mary. I have seen that stylised Marys image with the small eyes in ivory a few times always from Asia but not always from China itself. It's simply a low cost Catholic devotional from the some time in the 20th century. Don't think it is older. The 1.00 I assume is the price when new. Work out the currency and you work out the country of origin.

Is that ring/halo around the face a German thing maybe? Or is this a common thing to find?

I like it but I don't know. It might be Italian or Northern European, made for the Catholic and pilgrim market.
