Arcadian Ware Empty Arcadian Ware

Post by SpoonLicker Sun Sep 24, 2017 2:19 pm

Anyone know anything about this pair? The pot looks and feels like china but the tray looks like china including crazing and everything you'd expect of old china but sounds like it's made from papier mache and feels lighter than I'd expect from a china tray or cake plate of this size.

The mark says Arcadian Ware copyright (all in caps).

Looks like a 1920s-30s dressing table tray; likely to have had a pair of candlesticks, ring holder, powder pot, etc - you still have the trinket box. I've seen Arcadia on Crested Ware but I don't know about other pieces.

Someone is selling a pair of candlesticks on Etsy that are pink with the check edge (no flowers) and they're saying they're earlier 1904-24ish I think. Not sure where they got their info from though and can't find any others.

With no "england" on it it could be Czech.

I've been hunting some more and think it might have been produced by Wardle in the Potteries.
