Hakeme brushwork on chawan or bowl, PL mark
So recenty picked this up thinking .. oohh isnt that just a bit like whats her face?
Then i spotted an odd monogram on the side also a bit like whatsherface.
Didnt much like the look of the base or the firing cracks inside but seemed to have a great form.
So what are you r thoughts plz.
Thanks for looking.

Hakeme brushwork so inspired by Japanese potter rather than Lucie Rie. From the shape it's possibly a 'summer chawan' depending on its size. Im afraid I don't recognise the mark.

Many thanks Naomi, it measures 8 1/2" across and stands about 4 1/2" tall

The right sort of size for a summer chawan. May be European.

As Naomi states it looks nothing like Lucie Rie's work and the stoneware is wrong too. The banding on the foot ring is unusual and might help to identify it but that and the mark are not familiar to me.
Technically, it is too wide for a chawan, even a summer one, but that doesn't mean the potter, who made it, would not have called it that.

Peter Lane, Dennis Lane or Patrick Lester perhaps. Looks like Patrick Lester mark.

I feel fairly confident that it isn't Peter or Dennis Lane's work but I do not know of Patrick Lester or his work.

I don't believe it's her style of pot.

Roger Leyshon? A potter whose mark has some similarities to that of Lucie Rie. According to Yates Owen book he didthrown domectic ware in stoneware.
