Rye Pottery lamp
Picked up this pretty ugly lamp recently with an interesting olive green ceramic middle section. Reminds me a lot of Rye's 1950s/60s 'Filament' pattern. Does anyone know if Rye Pottery supplied ceramics to other companies?

Yes, I think it's most likely, but I don't know which Rye - David Sharp's, Eden, Cinque Ports. (There is also Karen Bunting who does a similar decoration but more modern and on a brown stoneware)

I think it's Cole's Rye. Tabby Cole is on pinterest and this is one of their lampbases from the 60s with a similar decoration

Definitely 60's Cole Rye from the late 50's/60's. But what have they done to a nice piece of pottery!

Re: Rye Pottery lamp
Agreed Phil. I have seen C190x Langley mill vases drilled out and made into lamps.
Recently in the local centre, what looked like a huge Linthorpe Dresser vase,
Drilled through the base, rod rammed through, a scandi chrome mess of a lamp,
base, worthless, as is now the vase.
Definitely Rye BTW

Re: Rye Pottery lamp
Thanks all for your input everyone. However, one thing that leaves me puzzled is that the 'egg' shaped ceramic centre section isn't a standard Rye Pottery vase shape, suggesting that this was made specifically for this lamp rather than it originally been a vase that had been drilled by some moron at a later date?

Re: Rye Pottery lamp
Maybe they’ve converted a decanter by knocking the neck off

I think you are going to have to disamantle it Dave, to put us out of our misery!
Re: Rye Pottery lamp
The Cole Rye pottery was one with very good design taste. That is why their pottery has stood the test of time, and still has a good market today. They would Never Ever had married this load of cheap.,tasteless, ghastly, moronic kitsch with their own pottery. It defies belief that someone should have had such appalling taste as to produce worthless pile of Tat!
