In this case, I think I would, it's a nice example of his work, he did make some ugly ones, but this is not one of them

cheers - its a bit nerve wrecking adding photos of a collection to a forum with the quality of the collectors in here - a bit like watching your signature dish being passed onto the judges in Masterchef...

Re: First Pot and the one that got away
Lol! I would die for half of your collection. Or a fifth. Hell, just give me the Bernard Leach and I’ll be happy

I think my collecting this year will be miniatures and figural pieces. So some more Swindells and Maltbys and the likes of Yuta Segawa.
Last couple of years it’s been wood fired pottery from the US but postage costs have risen so much that it’s cheaper to buy from the UK and Japan

Nice BL. Some one we have never bought. One because most of the affordable items tend to be not that good. Second could not afford the best.
Anyways. First pot would be this one. Went to buy some Troika at Lay's in Penzance. Ended up with this one by Neil Macdonell. Had a certain striking quality about it!

Re: First Pot and the one that got away
Why the rather slightly downer on 'Brown Pots' Bloomin sneery title that we should NOT have any truck with.
Anyways. The brown pot would be toss up with the large cut sided bowl I put up long time ago in the Batterham thread.
Or this one. There is no one quite like the Late Bill Marshall. Love this yunomi.

Re: First Pot and the one that got away
Well you've not seen the worst one i have... it negates all of the others into irrelevance and its so bad so mindblowingly appaling that even the charity shops wont take it...
What i want to know is 1. what is it supposed to be and 2. what was the leigh gallery thinking !!!

Re: First Pot and the one that got away
Trust me, I’ve seen and bought worse! Although the absolute pits of the pots imo was a ‘performance potter’ who made and then smashed pots in front of an audience and then sold the sherds from a stand at Ceramic Art London. I guess you had to be st the performance to fully appreciate them.

The other things in the photo were some of the first things that I bought to re-sell, although before pottery I did deal in vinyl.

Same here! But I'd guess I'm down to a dozen or so... had a huge clear out of junk I collected earlier on... Probably 20 boxes to charity shops
