Any ideas? The number on the base is 11247 and there is a smaller 37  below that. It's about 8" high and 9" wide.

Thanks Naomi. Your suggestions haven't got me any nearer with Google though. The nearest thing I found was Italian but it was still quite different.

I've seen a couple of these crossed handle baskets with Art Nouveau decoration; I think that they're usually Austrian or Czech, such as Amphora and Ditmar.
