John Simons: A Modernist - DVD

A link to some information about a recent film/DVD about a friend of mine. As it says on the DVD, it's "about the life and times of legendary clothing retailer John Simons".

There is a short trailer at the top of the page in the link, which explains a little about John and his business and should appeal to anyone interested in mid 20th century men's fashion in the UK.

I have know John for 25 years or so from when I had a unit in Alfie's Antiques Market in Marylebone. John was a regular visitor to the centre and began coming to my unit and on occasions buying or selling me things. Besides John's interest in clothes and jazz, he has always been a collector from before I met him of Modern British Art and objects and over the years has begun to collect studio pottery as well. He continues to buy from me when I have something to his taste and calls me over to his place when he has some pots that I might be interested in. Despite his age, I suspect that not many a day goes by without him visiting the charity shops on his regular routes around North London.

Blimey...i used to buy all my clothes from J.Simons when they were in Covent Garden...

You should have been included in the DVD, Brin.
