repairing cracks in china mugs
I just read this in t'internet and wondered if any forum members had tried it?
You place your cracked piece in a pot and cover it with two cups of milk (or more if needed). Next, heat over low for an hour. Allow to cool in milk and then remove and rinse. Your piece, if the crack wasn't too far gone, should now have resealed itself!
they go on to say
Milk contains a protein, casein, that, with heat, can be formed into a natural plastic.

Re: repairing cracks in china mugs
a small saucer would be a good way to test it, half a pint would submerge one

Re: repairing cracks in china mugs
Dan, I had a modern tea mug that was porcelain, it recently broke. I had had it 10 years. It had come out of the dishwasher and I had it on the worktop whilst I was putting everything away. I heard a big *crack*. The cooling temperature and internal forces caused the thing to almost split in half. If by 'china' your source means porcelain then there is no chance...
Re: repairing cracks in china mugs
I guess that is why you let it cool slowly in the milk
