York Art Gallery

Spent a lovely day at the gallery in York, some interesting exhibits and then the studio pottery up top with a nice collection of Lucie Rie to salivate over, amongst many others.
They had an old BBC Omnibus playing on a loop (amidst the collection), Attenborough with Rie at her studio, a great watch, it may be on Utube somewhere if you've never seen it. When she opens up the kiln and starts taking out the treasures, great viewing.

Well worth a trip.

At TYVM for these Jumping For Joy

. That 5th one is interesting as it's a really clumsy form. IMO not very nice. Big Shock

Couple of a nice Hamada

This long cabinet has a great many pieces and some absolute stunners, but it is a crazy old mixture of all sorts and the cherry on the cake is the plate to the right in the second picture that is possibly Coalport (or one of the other main factories) . For me, it is so out of place and I couldn't help but laugh when I first saw it, it just seems so out of place (to me).
