Unusual ashtray - Hillstonia Empty Unusual ashtray - Hillstonia

This unusual piece maybe made from cement or similar not sure really look's a bit like an ashtray has a mark which i can not make head nor tail over, It measure's 51/2" x 31/2" not very good quality seems to have been made in two section's but does appear to have age as base is well marked up. I am no pottery person but just though i should check out my ashtray before it gets broke! Thanks for looking.

I think it’s a mortar, missing it’s pestle, rather than an ashtray
