Very old sculpted piece.

Not sure I am in the right forum for this, but will give it a go regardless and hopefully someone out there can advise as to when this may date to & where it comes from.


This piece belongs to a lovely old lady that volunteers (alongside myself) in a local charity shop.
She cannot remember when or where her (deceased) husband bought it. They travelled extensively when younger and spent many years overseas in different places. I cannot tell her anything about it at all, other than the fact that I agree with her regarding its age, it does feel & look very old.
My partner believes it to be Greek.
It is very heavy, possibly marble, but from little I know I do not think it is, it is not that cool to touch, which I believe marble should be.
Anything anyone can offer regarding when & where it may have been made will be very welcome. Many thanks.

I've emailed some auction houses to get as many opinions as possible, so will see what comes of that.
Difficult to be accurate, as people really need to see it in the flesh, like with anything really.

I thought alabaster too.

Just to update, the lady in question has since had this examined by various experts and the conclusion is that it dates 400 bc.
