WALDERSHOF BAVARIA CANDLE HOLDER AND... WHAT ELSE? Empty WALDERSHOF BAVARIA CANDLE HOLDER AND... WHAT ELSE?

Hi!

I have a Waldershof piece which consists of a tray with and integrated candle holder. What I'm intrigued about is the function of the tray, provided it has a specific function other than decoration.

I attach photos. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
