Mystery black vase Empty Can anyone tell me anything about this pot?

Hi,
Got this pot in a mixed auction lot. No makers mark. It looks quite old , some glaze has come off in places. It’s quite heavy, &. Stands approx 6.5 inches tall. Many thanks for your expertise.

Maybe it’s stone? The base doesn’t strike me as Pottery. Looks more like a black basalt. Maybe made for a grave.

If it’s stone then it would have been turned on a wheel and carved like a wooden bowl, but with sharper tools.
