SANDY BROWN
One of the Big names of modern British Studio Pottery. Immensely colourful, vibrant,at times purely sculptural.Represented in many Museum collections, and exhinits Internationally. She trained and worked in Japan for near a decade,1963-73. She met Takeshi Yasuda there, and they both came back to England, where they had various Potteries together in Devon.mostly centred on South Molton, for near twenty years. She now works and lives in Appledore,North Devon.

Love her work. Always regret passing up on some pieces at a private view over at Lund Gallery a few years ago. Bought this well-used mug by her off ebay last year, all I can now afford by her. It's unmarked but bought it from The Barn Gallery, Southwell who seem to know their stuff. 9.3cm (height)

SANDY BROWN.
I was quite surprised to realise that we had no thread on the fabulous Sandy Brown. Surely one of the more significant of Modern British Studio Potters.
She worked at the Dasai Pottery in Japan 1969-73.
She then came back with her partner the famed Takeshi Yasuda from 1973-93 they worked in collaboration in various potteries in Hampshire and Devon. From 1993 she has lived and worked in Appledore. Her signature is often signed in vivid red, or occasionally inscribed as a signature. Her pottery is just so overwhelmingly vibrant with many techniques throwing and hand building. Of later years she has been active in making abstract cultural pieces.

Re: SANDY BROWN
Ah, that explains all the new threads I have to merge with existing ones. Our search facility only works if you put in one word (sandy OR brown), and it must be longer than 3 letters.
