By Annegret Ehlers, although the mark is sometimes attributed to her father, Alfred but the pieces look like '50s which was after his time.

Thank you so much for your informative response. I have spent many hours trying to decipher the mark without success before contacting you, many many thanks

Always tricky when it’s under the glaze

The pottery was at Lowerdown Cross near Bovey Tracey and was bought by David Leach in 1955 when he left St. Ives for good. It was where David remained until his death.

Re: Annegret Ehlers and Marion Ehlers
I thought it might be the case because of where the Ehlers pottery was but I did ask David when I visited him once and he confirmed that he had bought it from the family.

Useful research papers by Duane Kahlhamer (references below).

Unknown if Annagret Ehlers is the same as Marion Ehlers. For some reason Kahlhamer doesn't mention her in the titles, but she is the only member of the family mentioned in Godden and the Marks books
Some pieces are stamped M, presumably for Marion.
The pottery was established by their father Alfred Walter Georg Ehlers
