Would it be worth contacting the MAOE (which used to be the Hungarian Art Fund ... and its in the Hungarian langauge) - www.alkotok.hu/ This was the place that Ilona Kiss-Rooz was a member of, and whilst her work is a bit different, I can't help feeling that there might be a connection down the traditional East European Peasant Art route - and they may be able to recognize any images or marks.

That's definitely in the same ballpark. Mine is tube-shaped though but the decoration is very similar.
